Education Purposes / Educational Establishment

Education Purposes / Educational Establishment

This is a use of a premises for the systematic training and instruction designed to impart knowledge and develop skill, e.g. preschool, primary school, secondary school, college, university or technical and further education institution, and including any secondary freestanding buildings on the premises for before/after school and vacation care of school children. This definition can sometimes include the ancillary use of premises for an existing church in combination with an educational facility. In most local Councils any alteration to an existing educational use will trigger a development application, some extensions can be exempt under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 if they receive a certain amount of funding from government programs.

Most houses built prior to Dec 31st 1946 are considered to be under demolition control. Any alteration to these types of houses require development approval. We deal regularly with this type of approval and can ensure a smooth turnaround.

Some development will not trigger a planning approval because of its use, rather due to the proposal of building work itself. Most common in Ipswich, certain development will require development approval for building works assessed against the planning scheme.

A centre activity use can encompass quite a wide range of activities including a shop, office, restaurant, church, venue, bar…etc. Depending on the zoning of your property it may trigger a development approval.
